Closing arguments are expected today in the trial of James McCullough, who was charged in the gruesome death of his friend, 20-year old Alex Fraser.

The 22-year old McCullough has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and offering an indignity to a dead body.

He told court he remembers stabbing Fraser twice with a knife in 2013, and then blacking out.

McCullough testified that when woke up he saw his friend’s dismembered body parts in a bathtub. (The Canadian Press)

(Boating-Fatality)

A man has died in a boating accident on Georgian Bay.

Provincial police say three men from Richmond Hill were boating near Hailstone Island early Sunday morning when they capsized.

Two of the men managed to swim to shore, but 22-year old Nicholas Milonas didn’t make it back.

His body was found by a police underwater search and recovery unit near where the boat capsized.

Investigators say the men were not wearing life-jackets. (The Canadian Press)

(GTA-Pedestrian-Fatal)

Police in Mississauga are looking for the driver of an S-U-V that struck and killed a 70-year old woman as she crossed the street using a walker.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene (at Lakeshore Road East and Shaw Drive) around nine o’clock Friday evening.

Peel Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. (The Canadian Press)

(Attawapiskat-Teen-Survivor)

A 16-year-old Attawapiskat girl says she wants fellow teens on her First Nation to know that suicide is not the answer.

Rebecca Hookimaw’s 13-year-old sister Sheridan took her own life last October — and since then as many as 100 others in Attiwapiskat have apparently tried to kill themselves, the community to declare a state of emergency.

Hookimaw says she too has attempted suicide several times and understands the desperation of her peers from damaged families living in abject poverty.

She says she’s now trying to be a support for other teens who may be teetering on the edge. (The Canadian Press)

Kathleen Wynne was among the thousands who marched in Toronto’s Khalsa Day parade yesterday.

Khalsa Day marks the Sikh New Year, and is also called Vaisakhi.

(Urban-Bee-Keeping)

The usual summer buzz in cities may be a little louder this year as urban bee-keeping gains popularity.

The Montreal-based company Alveole rents out beehives to people who want to make their own honey.

It has 15 beehive locations in Toronto, a couple in Quebec City and Maine, and more than 250 in Montreal.

And come June the company will open a honey house in Toronto where people can learn all about urban bee-keeping. (The Canadian Press)
