The Ontario Provincial Police has partnered with the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario to host Niigan Mosewak, a summer camp focused on developing Indigenous youth leaders through outdoor skills and traditional teachings
The OPP has partnered with the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario to host a summer camp for Indigenous youth leaders near Spanish, about an hour and a half west of Sudbury.
The announcement was made on a sunny morning on May 27 at the YMCA in North Bay. Before the announcement, people gathered near the building’s entrance as George Couchie, founder of Redtail Hawk Training and Consulting, performed a ceremonial song along with a smudging ceremony.
