Press Release
March 14, 2016
For a second consecutive year, the YOUNG KARIBUS project is going on with the participation of 34 students distributed among the communities of Kuujjuaq, Tasiujaq, Kangirsuk and Kuujjuaraapik.
From next April 14 to 18, our athletes will put on their cross-country skiing equipment to cover a 90-km distance towards Aupaluk, from Tasiujaq and Kangirsuk. Focused in particular on perseverance and a healthy lifestyle, the YOUNG KARIBUS project also allows the students to retake ownership of their territory. Furthermore, the project also allows them to develop their employability through the shooting of a documentary.
Preparing such an expedition requires strictness and dedication. Moreover, lots of camping trips and workshops on such topics as a healthy diet, survival methods and a balanced lifestyle are organized exclusively for our young skiers. Aquafitness sessions as well as cooking and community radio hosting sessions are also on the agenda to tighten the links between the skiers and the accompanying teachers.
