But did indicate an openness to discourse and dialogue with First Nations
The issue of sovereignty was brought up at the Parti Québécois national council in Sherbrooke this weekend, though the issue was raised by Ghislain Picard, Chief of the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador.
He was referring specifically to the sovereignty of Quebec’s First nations and their traditional territory.
Though Pierre-Karl Péladeau was evasive and/or vague when pressed about the potential partition of Quebec, he did indicate a possible openness to discussions and dialogue.
Historically, the position of the PQ has been that Quebec’s borders are firmly set in stone. Péladeau’s comments mark a possible chnage in direction.
