Province continues to support Island entrepreneurs

Five more Island startups are using the latest technologies to deliver innovative products and services thanks to PEI’s Ignition Fund.

Twice a year, Innovation PEI welcomes entrepreneurs and established businesses to apply for up to $25,000 to develop or get their innovation to market. The latest recipients include:

  • SpecStorm
  • Captur-3D
  • MSSN by HyQHyration

Backgrounder:

SustainaBuild (Tessa Roberts / Roberts Family / Ben Andrew): Based in Summerside, Roberts Developments Inc. will produce modular, panelized building components using off-site construction and vertical integration innovations to deliver turnkey housing solutions. This model offers faster build times, lower cost and greater efficiency. The business is targeting homebuyers and property developers who value cost effective sustainable housing solutions.

Brice (Scott Gallant & Logan Anderson): Brice, with offices at The Foundry in Charlottetown, is an AI executive assistant that schedules meetings and manages calendars designed to simplify scheduling through natural conversations. It will handle complex scheduling tasks like a real human assistant. The product is targeted at startup founders, venture capitalists, investment advisors, etc.  working within existing email, Slack and Microsoft Teams applications.

SpecStorm (Dylan Ansems): Based in New Perth, SpecStorm is an AI-powered planning tool that transforms messy ideas, meeting notes, and conversations into structured, actionable technical documentation. The SaaS platform will have the capability to produce specs, feature lists and architecture documents using collaborative AI agents to reduce planning time and miscommunication. The offering is tailored to serve startup founders, freelance developers and small-to-medium software teams needing to turn raw ideas into actionable specifications.

Captur-3D (Willie Whelan & Charles McKinnon): Located in Charlottetown, this drone services company offers detailed civil infrastructure inspections, precise data collection for development projects, and critical inspections for renewable energy infrastructure.  Key partnerships with wind and solar companies position C-3D to inspect major renewable energy assets across Atlantic Canada & Quebec. The company also plans to support municipal maintenance departments with confined space drone operations and consulting.

MSSN by HYQHydration Inc. (Drew Bernard / Adam McQuaid / Scott McKay): Headquartered on Lennox Island First Nation, MSSN is a clean-label, time-targeted electrolyte-based natural health product offered in AM & PM formulations designed to help consumers optimize energy and hydration throughout the day.  These products are targeted towards Millennials and Gen Z who value health, sustainability and social impact and are packaged in sustainable paper tubes and free from artificial sweeteners, dyes and additives. The brand will blend modern wellness with Indigenous cultural leadership aiming to deliver both performance and social impact.
