Public denial of residential school bodies may lead to ninth sanction for Pickering councillor – INsauga

An inflammatory statement on bodies buried at residential schools made by a Pickering councillor, no stranger to controversy, has the city’s mayor apologizing to the local Indigenous community and promising action will be taken.

Ward 1 Councillor Lisa Robinson, who has already been sanctioned eight times for code of conduct violations, losing nearly two years’ pay, posted a video on April 8 claiming to “expose the lies” made by Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation on their investigation at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School site.
