Comedian, actor, singer plan to visit suicide-plagued reserve
With Attawapiskat First Nation facing a suicide crisis, Derek Armstrong is hoping a visit from a number of performers will raise the community’s spirits.
The only problem is the cost associated with bringing everyone to the remote community.
“It’s unfathomable,” Armstrong said on Sunday, regarding the cost from Sault Ste. Marie.
“It’s $400 to $500 just to get to Timmins, then it’s a $400 return to Attawapiskat. That’s just for myself.”
