QIA Seeking Board Member for the Aajuraq Conservation Fund Society

Iqaluit, Nunavut – May 7, 2026, 2025 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is seeking one individual to serve on the Aajuraq Conservation Fund Society Board of Directors.

The Society is a charitable foundation supporting Inuit-led conservation in the Qikiqtani region and, where applicable, other ocean areas of Canada. Board members will guide funding decisions for Inuit-led governance, stewardship, and infrastructure, and oversee investment decisions.

Applicants must:

• Qualify to serve as a Director of a Canadian not-for-profit Nunavut society;
• Demonstrate or be willing to develop knowledge of Inuit rights, history, and perspectives;
• Be able or willing to learn to read financial and investment statements; and
• Serve in an individual capacity.

Experience in one or more of the following is considered an asset:

• Inuit culture and Maligait;
• Nunavut or Inuit Nunangat expertise;
• Project planning and execution in Nunavut;
• Conservation and stewardship;
• Financial or investment management;
• Project finance for permanence;
• Conservation trust funds;
• Governance or legal expertise.
