For several years now, major Ontario police services have grown accustomed to publicly releasing race-based use-of-force data and the disparities for Black and Indigenous people remain consistently deep.
On Friday, Peel Regional Police and its civilian oversight board highlighted its analysis of 2024 data, which shows a slight decline in the proportion of use of force incidents involving Black people, from 34 per cent in 2022 to 28 per cent in 2024.
