The RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation (JFO) West and RCMP West District General Investigation Section (GIS) arrested two people Wednesday, after a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of cocaine, cash and weapons.
On June 24, JFO West and West District GIS investigators were conducting surveillance in the area of Deer Lake when the officers observed a vehicle engaged in activities consistent with a drug trafficking.
A traffic stop was conducted and, with the assistance of Deer Lake RCMP officers, the occupants of the vehicle were taken into police custody without incident. A subsequent search of the pair and the vehicle resulted in the location and seizure of a quantity of cocaine, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, cash and several edged weapons.
Bert Gosney, 44, and 38-year-old Krystal Lee White, both of Deer Lake, were later released from custody with conditions. They are each charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and are expected to appear in provincial court in September 2026.
The investigation is ongoing.
