Fisher River Cree Nation (FRCN) (www.fisherriver.com) is presently seeking a Six (6) month Term Position for a RECREATION COORDINATOR/MANAGER to work under the direct ion of the Chief & Council/Director of Operations. The Recreation Coordinator will coordinate a wide range of recreational activities by providing the following key activities:
Key Activities
• Monthly Reports
• Ability to plan, develop, implement, coordinate, manage all recreational activities and deliver recreational community projects/programs throughout the year,
• Direct, supervise, manage and conduct annual evaluations on the janitor/maintenance staff;
• Develop a schedule of events related to recreation al activities and advertise place, location and time;
• Secure funding through proposal development, fund raising and other methods of securing financial resources for recreational activities;
• Conduct an analysis of past and existing recreational activities to engage participation to determine what activities are popular;
• Engage public opinion in regards to recreational activities preferences;
• Work with the various programs/sectors to discuss potential joint recreational activities;
• Ensure that proper equipment is available and the location where the activity is to take place is prepared in advance;
• Develop an annual work-plan of activities/annual budget for submission to the Chief & Council/Director of Operation s for review and approval;
• Secure and recruit volunteers to assist in implementing recreational activities;
• Ensure that the location where activities are to occur meet all safety requirements;
• Request approval from parents and/o r guardian s when necessary for children to participate in internal and external activities;
• Engage in competitive recreational activities with other communities and develop recreational leagues and tournaments;
• Must be willing to work Evenings/Weekends when required;
• Other duties as assigned;
Qualifications
• Grade 12 and or two years of related experience in recreation and sport;
• Excellent communication and written skills including organizational and people skills;
• Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision .
