Kamloops advocates used Red Dress Day to call for a new alert system in B.C. to notify communities when an Indigenous person is missing.
Hundreds of people attended a somber march recognizing Red Dress Day on Tuesday organized by the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society (KAFS) in partnership with Lii Michif Otipemisiwak Family and Community Services (LMO).
The procession culminated at McDonald Park where numerous speakers addressed the crowd amidst many flowing red dresses, which represent missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two spirited peoples.
