Residential land lottery for Watson Lake now open

Press Release

August 19, 2025

As part of the Government of Yukon’s ongoing commitment to increase land and housing availability, 24 new residential lots on Frances Avenue in Watson Lake are being released. Residential lots range in size between 1,030 and 1,100 square metres. Building commitments for the residential lots have been determined with input from the communities.

Lottery applications will be accepted at the district office in Watson lake or at the Land Management Branch in Whitehorse, or at any of the district offices until September 2, 2025, at 4:30 pm. The lottery draw will take place on September 4 with the results posted on September 9, 2025.

These 24 new lots represent new opportunities for Yukoners to build homes right in Watson Lake. Our government is focused on continuing to build the foundation for our growing territory. We continue to invest in land development to help Yukoners build homes and support thriving communities well into the future.

Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources John Streicker

With each new lot lottery, we are reminded of the hard work teams of people have put in to coordinate, design, plan and implement every one of these projects. Our government has invested in the biggest rural lot development program to meet the needs and priorities of rural Yukon. This is an important step to meeting our 1,000 lot commitment to Yukoners. Thank you to everyone who participated in creating these lots and we look forward to seeing more Yukoners build their homes.

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn
