The three sessions being offered include making gift cards from seeds, soap with charcoal- and plant-based materials, and an all-natural medicine nasal inhaler and salve
If you have ever wanted to learn how traditional First Nations use native plants, these sessions are for you. In a series of three Indigenous workshops, Jamie-Lynn Gillingham shares her knowledge and skills in making medicine, soaps and crafts using plants.
A local resident, Gillingham is an Anishinaabe Kwe (a First Nations Woman) and a registered Band member of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. She has direct ties to the Residential School system, with families of survivors and of those who did not. Her art work consists of traditional beadwork and leatherwork, skills she enjoys sharing throughout her community.
