The Sudbury Catholic District School Board just completed another Summer Learning Program at St. Francis School.
The camps provided SCDSB students from full day kindergarten to Grade 5 with a curriculum taught by a team of educators.
Three different programs were offered to students. The programs included the summer literacy program, the Indigenous arts and literacy program and the summer numeracy program.
The summer literacy program and the Indigenous arts and literacy program focused on literacy games and activities, with the Indigenous program also providing traditional Indigenous history and readings. Local First Nation artists and community members co-facilitated cooking lessons and cultural activities. The summer numeracy program emphasized the fun of mathematics by also providing games and activities. Each camp featured the latest technology, including SMART Boards, iPads and educational apps to meet individual needs.
