Seeking feedback on European Union Seal Ban

Have you been impacted by the European Union (EU) Seal Ban of 2009? Do you have an opinion on the ban on international trade of seal and walrus products?

The EU is currently reviewing their regulations and is seeking feedback from the public. While the regulation has an exemption for Inuit and Indigenous seal products, it still has a monumental impact on our economy and livelihoods.

The Government of Nunavut, in collaboration with the Government of Northwest Territories will be submitting an official response to the EU. This is an opportunity for Nunavummiut to have your voices heard. We strongly encourage Nunavummiut to submit your written opinions through the EU’s online portal.
