Some evacuees allowed home, others still out in Alberta fire zone – Lethbridge Herald

April 20, 2016

DUFFIELD, Alta. – An evacuation order for residents of an Alberta hamlet threatened by a wildfire has now been lifted.

Parkland County, west of Edmonton, says about 30 people around Duffield who were forced out as a precaution on Monday have been allowed to return home after the order was lifted early Tuesday evening.

The fire is under control but the county says on its website that air quality in the Duffield region remains a concern due to smoke.

An evacuation order remains in effect for an aboriginal reserve in the same region, although it may be lifted today.
