Songhees Nation prepares for 5th annual South Island Powwow in Victoria – CHEK News

The Songhees Nation, with support from the City of Victoria, is gearing up for the fifth annual South Island Powwow this fall.

The free, family-friendly event is planned for Sept. 30 – the same day as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, at Royal Athletic Park.

“The South Island Powwow honours and recognizes survivors of Indian Residential and Day Schools and their families, the Sixties Scoop and the children who never made it home from these institutions,” said organizers in a release Tuesday.
