Press Release
May 13, 2026
This May 14th, TNDC is marking Moose Hide Campaign Day, which calls on Canadians to join together in ceremony and solidarity to end violence towards women, children and those along the gender continuum. Violence affects too many mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and friends.
The Moose Hide Campaign is raising awareness to spark conversations and take a stand to end the violence. Moose hide pins, at the heart of this initiative, shine a light on this devastating social issue impacting all Canadians. In many Indigenous cultures, moose hide is considered medicine; the pins are like a medicine for a social ailment in our society.
ABOUT THE MOOSE HIDE CAMPAIGN
The Moose Hide Campaign recognizes that all forms of violence are unacceptable, regardless of gender, with a disproportionate number of women as victims, and the importance of engaging men and boys in addressing this issue. “Shame and blame” isn’t the answer; education and advocacy is.
SHARE IT, WEAR IT, DISCUSS IT
In solidarity of this important initiative, the TNDC team is wearing moose hide pins and having conversations. The pin represents a personal commitment to respect, safety, and ending violence against women and children, grounded in Indigenous values and responsibility. This commitment extends beyond one day and reflects how we care for our communities.
