Statement from Premier Dixon on swearing in of Kwanlin Dün First Nation’s new Chief and Council

Premier Currie Dixon has issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I would like to congratulate Sean – Uyenets’echᶖa – Smith on being re-elected for a second term as Chief for the Kwanlin Dün First Nation.

“I also extend my congratulations to the new Councillors Shirley Bien, Amanda Calbery, Charlene Charlie, Troy Friday, Mike Stanley and Lester Wilson.

“It was an honour to attend the ceremony where the newly elected Chief and Council were sworn in to assume their important responsibilities. The event showed the strong relationship that exists between the Kwanlin Dün First Nation’s government and the community.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the Chief Smith as well as with Kwanlin Dün First Nation Council to strengthen our governmental ties, advance implementation of the Final and Self-Government Agreements and achieve our shared priorities for a brighter future of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation community.”
