Statement from Premier Dixon on the swearing in of Selkirk First Nation’s new Chief and Council

Premier Currie Dixon has issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I would like to congratulate Jeremy Harper on being sworn in as Chief of the Selkirk First Nation.

“Chief Harper brings a tremendous amount of experience in public service having previously served two terms as a Wolf Councillor for Selkirk First Nation and is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly for Mayo-Tatchun and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.

“I would also like to extend my congratulations to the new Crow Councillors Janelle Hager and Milly Johnson, Wolf Councillors Adam Van Bibber and David Silas, Elder Councillor Benny Joe and Youth Councillor Rena Simon who were sworn in today.

“The Government of Yukon values our government-to-government relationship and I look forward to collaborating with Chief Harper and Selkirk First Nation’s Council on shared priorities.

“I want to thank outgoing Chief Sharon Nelson for her service and dedication during her two terms in office. I wish her success in her future endeavours.”
