I would like to thank Jim Miles for his thought-provoking letter to the editor on Aug. 3 in which he praised Richard Rolke for his perspective on the Okanagan Indian Band’s unresolved indigenous land claim issue.

I would also like to thank The Morning Star for its respectful and fair reporting on this matter.

The newspaper coverage is providing me with an opportunity to understand more about the injustices facing our First Nation neighbours today and to realize that unsettled land claims has an negative impact on our community.

We know that rigid colonial attitudes persist.
