Annual civil aviation statistics: First look, 2020
Given the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, Statistics Canada is providing a first look at key variables from the 2020 annual civil aviation statistics program. As collection is ongoing for the 2020 reference year, these estimates are preliminary and subject to revision.
Crimes related to the sex trade: Before and after legislative changes in Canada
Police-reported crimes related to the sex trade fell by over half (-55%) from 2010 to 2019, driven by fewer incidents of stopping or impeding traffic, or communicating for the purpose of offering, providing or obtaining sexual services. Most of this decline occurred before the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act (PCEPA) was adopted in 2014, which affected the legality of selling and purchasing sexual services in Canada.
Social Policy Simulation Database and Model, version 28.1
The Social Policy Simulation Database and Model (SPSD/M), version 28.1, is now available. This model update includes a dynamic labour adjustment model to reflect employment patterns for 2020 and allows users to run 2021 employment scenarios. It incorporates changes to income taxes and government transfers that were announced between November 15, 2019, and February 20, 2021, and includes the 2018-base market basket measure. It is based on 2016 data and can be used to study the effects of changes to federal and provincial tax and benefit programs on families and governments from 1997 through 2025.
