Overall, investment in building construction rose 1.9% (+$408.1 million) to $21.8 billion in December, with gains recorded across all components. Year over year, investment in building construction grew 4.7% in December.

Engineering services industry, 2023

Following double-digit gains in 2022, the engineering services industry saw a more moderate 9.0% growth in operating revenue in 2023, reaching $43.3 billion. Compared with 2022, the share of operating revenue decreased in both petroleum and petrochemical plant and process engineering projects (from 16.5% to 14.4%) and commercial, public and institutional building engineering projects (from 14.3% to 14.0%), because of a slowdown in investments in these areas.

Health indicators for First Nations adults living off reserve, Métis and Inuit adults, 2015 to 2022

From 2019 to 2022, among Indigenous people aged 18 years and older, 54.3% of Inuit reported having a regular healthcare provider, along with 81.4% of First Nations people living off reserve and 84.5% of Métis. This is compared with 85.7% of the non-Indigenous adult population.
