‘The lives that should still be here’: Installation marks Red Dress Day in East Gwillimbury – YorkRegion.com

May 5 is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ Peoples (MMIWG2S+).

Steps from where red dresses hung beside posters explaining the tragedy of murdered and missing Indigenous women, Angela Cimino spoke of the importance of remembering the victims.

With the support of her fellow members of East Gwillimbury’s Truth and Reconciliation Working Group, Cimino created Whispering Spirits, the Town of East Gwillimbury’s first Red Dress installation.
