(Thunder Bay, Ontario) – Family and friends will gather at the Whitewater Golf and Country Club on Friday, July 28th, 2016 to raise money for cancer research.
The Darryl “Penasi” Fox Memorial Golf Classic is held each year in honour of Darryl Fox, an avid golfer, engineering student and Ojibway-Cree Anishnaabe from Bearskin Lake First Nation, who died of cancer in 2002 at the age of 24.
Funds raised through the tournament will go to Northern Cancer Research Foundation for cancer research and to bursary scholarships for First Nation students enrolled in an engineering program. To date this fundraising event has raised and provided Thunder Bay’s Health Science Foundation with more than $50,000 and has contributed over $10,000 for student bursaries.
