Treaty One Nations and the Winnipeg Airports Authority have unveiled permanent land acknowledgement signage at James Richardson International Airport.
The signage was unveiled on Tuesday in the arrivals hall above the airport‘s iconic Hug Rug.
The signage features a trilingual message in Anishinaabemowin, English, and French, along with original Woodland-style artwork by Grace Swain of Swan Lake First Nation. The design incorporates traditional teachings and symbolism representing the connection between the land, the people, and the Seven First Nations of Treaty One.
