Tsilhqot’in First Nation relieved Federal Government rejects BC’s Cariboo region’s huge copper and gold mine project

The Canadian Press -Vancouver, Feb 27, 2014 12:12 –  First Nations and environmentalists are relieved that the federal government has once again rejected a huge copper and gold mine planned for an area west of Williams Lake in B-C’s Cariboo region. Aboriginals were fighting the proposal saying it would foul a sacred area. Tsilhqot’in Tribal Chairman Joe Alphonse says his people were not involved in planning for the mine and this must be a lesson to all resource companies. A spokesman for Taseko says the mine is too important to British Columbia and vows the latest rejection is not the end of the project. Listen here.
