Two large-scale murals by local Indigenous artist Kory Parkin now line the interior of Ontario Power Generation’s Lennox Generating Station — bringing cultural storytelling into an industrial space more often associated with turbines than art.
The murals were unveiled this month as part of a renovation tied to the station’s 50th anniversary, with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) framing the project as a way to reflect both the site’s history and the land it occupies.
But while the utility positions the project as part of a broader branding and workplace initiative, Parkin said his approach began with listening — not just to the land, but to the people who work there.
