The University of Regina (U of R) and the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan (MN-S) have signed a Citizenship Agreement that formally recognizes and respects Métis Nation-Saskatchewan citizenship.
The Citizenship Agreement establishes a clear, collaborative process to ensure that students, employees, and researchers who access equity-based opportunities (such as admission, scholarships, hiring, or research funding designated for Métis citizens) are verified citizens of the MN-S or another recognized Métis Nation government.
“I look forward to the mutual benefits and opportunities that this agreement will create in our province, at our University, and for the Métis people who are such an important part of Saskatchewan’s historical, cultural, economic, and educational fabric,” says Jeff Keshen, U of R president and vice-chancellor.
