The latest Ministry of Natural Resources data shows the blaze has significantly grown today

GOGAMA — A forest fire southwest of Timmins has nearly doubled in size today, according to new details from the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Timmins 9 has been burning since Sunday, and as of this evening (June 3) is listed as being 1,100 hectares. That’s more than double the 464 hectares it was reported as being this morning. It’s still not under control.

The fire is west of Highway 144, and is located just north of Gogama and west of Mattagami First Nation.
