Wood Buffalo launches call for Indigenous athletes, builders and legends nominations – play 103.7

FORT MCMURRAY — Nominations are now open for the 2026 Indigenous Sports Gallery, which aims to recognize local First Nation and Métis athletes, community builders and cultural leaders across the Wood Buffalo region.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo says nominations will be accepted from April 7 to May 4, with selected individuals to be honoured at an induction ceremony before the gallery travels to communities for public display.
The initiative is intended to celebrate the achievements of Indigenous athletes and inspire youth by highlighting contributions to sport and community well-being.
