Press Release
May 15, 2026
The Department of Education would like to clarify communication channels for parents and guardians. A good relationship between the home and the child’s school is very important, so every student feels safe and supported.
Guided by piliriqatigiinniq/ikajuqtigiinniq, parents are encouraged to speak with your child’s teacher about learning, behaviour, homework, or classroom expectations. If the issue isn’t resolved, contact the school principal. You can also talk to the principal for concerns about the school environment, rules, safety or attendance. Communication can be in person, by phone, or email. Be clear and respectful, and work together toward solutions.
If further action is needed, you can contact your local district education authority (DEA) or the Commission scolaire francophone du Nunavut (CSFN) for guidance on school policies and programming. You can also reach out to the regional school operations (RSO) offices for support with school operations and staff conduct.
