2026 Chief Joe Mathias BC Aboriginal Scholarship Fund – Applications Now Open

Applications are now open for the 2026 Chief Joe Mathias British Columbia Aboriginal Scholarship Fund. This scholarship supports eligible BC First Nations students pursuing post-secondary or graduate studies and may be of interest to learners in our community.

Three scholarship programs are available. The BC First Nations Teacher Scholarship supports students enrolled in teacher education programs at BC public post-secondary institutions.

The teacher scholarship is funded through the Stronger BC: Future Ready Action Plan and advances FNESC’s work under Action 4.2 of the Declaration Act Action Plan, which commits the Province to

“develop and implement an effective recruitment and retention strategy to increase the number of Indigenous teachers in the K–12 public education system.”
