June 9, 2015 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) – The City of Iqaluit is calling on Iqalummiut (residents and corporations)
to participate in upcoming efforts to beautify Iqaluit.

All residents and employers are encouraged to dedicate this morning to clean up litter around
our community. Supplies will be provided (gloves, garbage bags, t-shirts) at Unikkaarvik Visitor
Centre from 9am. A celebration BBQ will be held at lunch; bring your own mug.
  2. Large-item Pickup: June 22 – July 6, 2015
The City of Iqaluit encourages residents to use this large-item pickup to clean up their
properties. The Department of Public Works will be collecting large items from residential properties during
two weeks only, between June 22 and July 6, 2015. After this schedule, residents will be
required to take their items directly to the landfill.Prepare early. Create tidy piles at the end of the driveway; separate wood, electronics,
appliances, and furniture. For the safety of City staff, this pickup does not include tires or
hazardous materials (batteries, paint); residents should take these directly to the landfill. The City’s Municipal Enforcement Officers are starting to proactively enforce the Unsightly
Lands Bylaw; residents can use the scheduled large-item pickup to avoid enforcement.
