Curriculum Writer

The Woodland Cultural Centre is seeking one highly motivated individual to create the Mohawk Institute Residential School curriculum units for Grades Kindergarten to Grade 12, as well as create the Pre-Visit and Post-Visit lesson plans.  The Curriculum Writer assumes responsibility for the creation of the curriculum units and pre-visit and post-visit lesson plans in relation to the Ontario Curriculum.  The Curriculum Writer will be working in conjunction with the Museum Director and Executive Director and other related staff members to complete the duties.

Basic Job Description:

  • Research history of Mohawk Institute Residential School and other Residential Schools across Canada
  • Develop curriculum units on Residential Schools for grades Kindergarten – Grade 12 using the Ontario Curriculum as a guideline
  • Create lesson plans/activities for pre-visit packages with a focus on history, empathy and family relationships
  • Create lesson plans/activities for post-visit packages on emotional intelligence and reconciliation

​Qualifications:

  • ​Must possess a post-secondary degree in Education and with 3-5 years related work experience
  • Must have demonstrated track record of creating curriculum/pre-post education lesson plans
  • Must have strong communication skills and highly organized
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle
