New tourism banners unveiled for National Tourism Week

Press Release

April 24, 2026

To celebrate National Tourism Week, the Government of Yukon has unveiled a new series of tourism banners featuring the artwork of six Yukon artists.

Displayed at Yukon visitor information centres and at select visitor attractions throughout the territory, the banners welcome visitors and showcase the talents of the territory’s established and emerging artists.

The featured artists are Mary Binsted, Nicola Lazeo-Fairman, Niki Parry, Terrence Shorty, Shadunjen van Kampen and Alaena Warner. Their designs are based on the themes of A Journey Through Transportation, Living Traditions and Northern Wonders.

The unveiling is a part of the Yukon’s annual celebration of National Tourism Week. Held April 20 to 24, the week provides an opportunity for tourism partners to come together to champion and promote the Yukon’s destinations, tourism businesses and workforce.

The Yukon government is proud to introduce six new tourism banners in celebration of National Tourism Week. These banners showcase the creativity and talent of Yukon artists and reflect the unique culture, landscapes and stories that make the Yukon such a compelling destination for visitors and a source of pride for Yukoners.

Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Culture Jen Gehmair

I have really enjoyed the challenge of designing something that playfully speaks to both the personal and shared experience of life in the Yukon. Over the years, the array of tourism banners have been a bright spot in my commute around town. Each is a snapshot of Yukon culture and life, and I feel grateful to have my work be a part of this story.

I am honoured to have been selected to create a banner representing the beauty of this extraordinary territory. The Yukon is a landscape rich in magic and mystery. Through my northern lights design, I sought to capture that wild, free feeling as the lights dance across the sky. In that moment, motion and stillness exist together. To me, this embodies the spirit of the Yukon. I am proud to share this with both Yukoners and visitors alike.
