THE POSITION

Under the supervision of Nawigizigweyas Education Centre (NEC) Principal we are seeking an Aboriginal HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Program Coordinator who is responsible for the development of a home instruction program for preschool youngsters to improve their linguistic, social and cognitive skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver parent and community workshops to introduce HIPPY
  • Strengthen relationships and support for HIPPY
  • Recruit and develop an advisory committee to support HIPPY program
  • Engage and collaborate with external community programs (health clinic, child & family services, etc.)
  • Ensure sound financial systems
  • Work closely with Curriculum Design and Home Visitor Training Development programs
  • Submit regular reports to STC and Aboriginal HIPPY Canada
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Education Degree with specialization in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development; and a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experiencing in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, facilitation and program coordination skills
  • Experience working effectively with families and communities
  • Education or experience working with children with special needs would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Saulteaux language and culture would be an asset
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to provide a criminal records check (CPIC) and vulnerable sector check.
