Project Jewel is hosting a Family Whaling Camp in the Kittigazuit/Whitefish Station area for three families from the Inuvik region.
This program will be held from July 16 to 20, 2018.
As part of Project Jewel’s on-the-land wellness component, this program will allow families to increase their on-the-land knowledge, take part in a harvesting tradition, and provide an opportunity to spend quality time together in order to strengthen relationships.
All participants will be staying at a traditional whaling camp and the traditional preparation practices of maktak and fish will be taught. This will allow families to experience a subsistence style of living that their Elders and ancestors have lived for generations.
Apply before July 12, 2018.
