RMOT (Resource Management Officer Technician Aboriginal Fisheries Strategy Seasonal – Approximately 26 Weeks Start Date — October 16″, 2023

Position Summary: (2-year job opportunity)

A primary objective of DFO’s Aboriginal Fisheries Strategy (AFS) is to build Indigenous capacity to manage their fisheries and participate fully in conservation. The AFS allows DFO to work with Indigenous groups to develop expertise in the area of fisheries and aquatic resource conservation and management. Monitoring and quantifying fisheries harvests and habitat impacts are foundational elements of effective conservation and management strategies. As such, fishery and resource monitors of all types play a pivotal role in fish conservation and Indigenous capacity building in general.

Among AFS participants, technical personnel that carry out the monitoring roles hold various job titles. For the purposes of the AFS program, they will be referred to as Resource Management Officer Technicians (RMOTSs).
