Moose Cree FN – Community Security Checkpoints

There is currently one security checkpoint located at the Expedition heliport for persons travelling on scheduled flights and charters. Once the river freezes, there will be an additional site located at the McLeod’s Hill (barge landing) for persons travelling either by snowmobile/vehicle/on foot.

These security checkpoints are established to protect and ensure the health and safety of our community, as we are currently in a state of emergency due to the ongoing drug crisis our community is facing.

During the operations of the security checkpoints, staff members located at the site will collect and verify your information such as:

• Your name
• Reason for travel (business, travel plans, etc.)
• Identification, if you’re not a Moose Cree First Nation Member
• Identification verification, if you are a Moose Cree First Nation member.

They will also collect your vehicle information such as:

• Vehicle make, type, colour
• License plate

Anyone who fails to comply with security checkpoints will be refused from entering the community and will be trespassing and are subject to removal and liability as a trespasser under the Indian Act, RSC 1985, c I-5 and the Ontario Trespass to Property Act, RSO 1990, с Т.21.

We kindly ask for your patience and cooperation as our staff work diligently to ensure the safety of our community.
