With Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30th, many are reflecting on Canada’s troubled past and asking questions about how to make a better Canada for all today and tomorrow.

For Swan Lake First Nation (SLFN) Ojibwe elder, spiritual leader and environmental expert David Scott and his adopted son Finn Rachul, a Mennonite from Morden, they are walking a new path.

“Where are the voices of our white brothers?”

Swan Lake First Nation (SLFN) Ojibwe elder, spiritual leader and environmental expert David Scott has been working with Truth and Reconciliation before those words came into today’s vocabulary. He called for an end to the segregation of Indigenous children in schools back in 1985. This call to action came from a meeting that was held in 1976 in SLFN.
