Mar 17 2026

The Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) has launched a pilot project aimed at strengthening public safety across the 12 First Nation communities it serves.

The Crime Reduction and Enforcement Unit (CREU) is a specialized team that will focus on intelligence-led policing and targeted enforcement to address crime issues such as illegal firearms, illicit drugs, and gang activity.

A proactive approach to community safety

“The safety and well-being of the communities we serve remains our top priority,” notes Chief of Police Jason Colon. “The creation of the Crime Reduction and Enforcement Unit allows MFNPS to take a more proactive and intelligence-led approach to addressing firearms, drug trafficking, and gang activity that threaten our communities. This pilot project strengthens our ability to work alongside our partners while remaining grounded in the values and priorities of the First Nations we serve.”
