Celebrating Indigenous Storytelling: A Canada Reads Event – CBC

Mar 19, 2026

Canada Reads comes to the Charleswood Library March 29

Renowned filmmaker and Winnipeg’s very own Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers is one of five celebrity contenders on Canada Reads 2026. She’s defending the novel A Minor Chorus by the national bestselling author Billy-Ray Belcourt.

On Sunday March 29, Elle-Máijá and Billy-Ray will join Rosanna Deerchild, host of CBC Unreserved, for a conversation that celebrates different ways of telling Indigenous stories — from poetry and fiction to documentary and film — and highlights how far Indigenous storytelling has come.

The event will be held at the Charleswood Library at 4910 Roblin Blvd. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the program begins at 2 p.m.
