Call for proposals – cancer prevention through healthy living

Press Release

March 19, 2026

The Department of Health’s cancer screening program is accepting applications for a one‑time $10,000 grant to support community-led projects that promote cancer prevention through healthy living in Nunavut. Approved projects may take place between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.

Non-profit groups, and community organizations are invited to apply for funding to support programs and activities that:

  • Promote physical activity to reduce cancer risk.
  • Increase awareness of cancer prevention through healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Encourage communities to build healthy routines together.
  • Reduce barriers to accessing programs and opportunities that support active living.

Regular physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices can help lower the risk of several types of cancer. Community-led initiatives are an important part of supporting Nunavummiut in taking steps toward cancer prevention.

The deadline to apply is March 31, 2026, at 5 p.m. EST.

For an application form or more information visit the Government of Nunavut website or contact the cancer screening program at CancerScreening@gov.nu.ca or call 867-975-5368.

The Department of Health remains committed to supporting the health and well-being of Nunavummiut through community-based health promotion initiatives.
