APTN Investgates: Pimicikamak’s winter of discontent – APTN News

Since just after Christmas, Cross Lake or Pimicikamak has been experiencing what might be called a winter of discontent, after a power outage resulted in frozen and ruptured pipes, followed by a boil water advisory, a military aid intervention, a state of emergency being declared, and another large-scale community evacuation.

It was just last summer that Cross Lake experienced a previous emergency evacuation due to forest fires.

In Crisis at Cross Lake, APTN Investigates looks at what happened this winter and the considerable challenge of getting Pimicikamak back to a livable state.
