LLRIB threatens legal action over treaty annuity payment – MBC Radio

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band says they are prepared to pursue legal action against the federal government.

The concern comes after the government rejected a claim from the band for an increase to the $5 treaty annuity payment.

The Indian Band filed the claim in February 2025 arguing Ottawa needed to adjust the annuity to maintain its purchasing power and to match inflation.
