Sākewew High School needs new governance board, student funding agreements
Plans are underway to form a new governing body to manage an Indigenous high school in North Battleford, Sask.
Sākewew High School has been open for almost 25 years. Around 250 students are enrolled there — about 60 per cent from the urban area and about 40 per cent bused in from surrounding First Nations. It also offers Grade 12 credit classes for adults.
Principal Shauna Bugler estimates 90 to 95 per cent of the students are First Nations or Métis.
