Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin, Yukon University sign agreement to co-design curriculum in Dawson City – CBC

‘For Trʼondëk students, it’s loud and clear — you belong here,’ says First Nation’s director of education

It’s another step forward in the work to create a more culturally inclusive education system for students in Dawson City, Yukon —this time at the town’s Yukon University campus.

On Monday, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation (TH) Hähkè (chief) Darren Taylor, and Yukon University’s vice chancellor and interim president, Dr. Shelagh Rowles, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) implementing Section 17.7 of the First Nation’s self-government agreement.

The self-government agreement states the First Nation shall negotiate the division and sharing of responsibility for the design, delivery and administration of programs delivered within its traditional territory.
