Summer Shines in Wascana Centre

Press Release

June 1, 2026

Experience summer in the heart of Saskatchewan’s capital city with Wascana Centre. Try something new or take in a favourite summertime activity – there are so many ways to enjoy the centre.

Back by popular demand, boat tours of Wascana Lake are a relaxing way to enjoy some time on the water while taking in the beautiful scenery. It is easier than ever to book a spot with the new online tool. Watch Facebook and Instagram for $5 boat tour announcements throughout July and August.

If you are looking to make memories as a family, pack a basket of snacks and bring the whole crew to experience the novelty of an island in the middle of the city. Picnic on the Island is back on Sundays throughout July and August. Take a boat over to Willow Island between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to have your picnic, play some games and even roast some marshmallows (do not forget to bring them) over a fire.

Are you a garden lover? Join the horticulture team for the fern-favourite tours of the Queen Elizabeth II gardens on Saturdays in June and July. Of course, a green thumb is not needed to appreciate all the hard work that goes into planting and caring for the gardens every summer.

Speaking of care, do you need something to do with the young sprouts home for the season? Wascana Wonders programming returns this summer for children ages four to 12. Sign up online for Saturday sessions on forestry, horticulture, Wascana Lake, the habitat conservation area and more. Wascana Wonders runs throughout July and August.

Wascana Centre is thrilled to announce that after a successful inaugural year, Oskana Days return to the park this summer in collaboration with Nature Saskatchewan and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. On July 11 and August 8, celebrate Indigenous cultures through a hide tanning demonstration, Indigenous games, a discovery table and more.

There is always something to see and do in Wascana Centre. Information on these programs and more can be found at: wascana.ca.
